Contractors Wanted for FL Bridge Coating Work

Citrus County in Florida is soliciting bids for cleaning, coating and roadwork to an existing bridge structure.

The submittal date for this project is July 17.

Scope of Work

This project involves painting, concrete sealing, cathodic protection and various repairs to Bridge #024019 along Museum Road over the Indian River in Citrus County, Florida.

The project includes a lump sum item for coating existing structural steel. The project also requires cleaning and coating 1,195 square feet of existing concrete surfaces and 200 linear feet of cathodic protection.

Structural steel surfaces will require application of a four-coat system consisting of a zinc-rich primer, two intermediate coats of polyamide epoxy and an aliphatic polyurethane finish coat.

The contractor will also oversee bridge deck expansion, guardrail repair, bituminous crack and joint sealing, and miscellaneous site work.

Surfaces will require preparation in accordance with standards for Solvent Cleaning (SSPC-SP 1), Near-White Metal Blast Cleaning (SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2), Bare Metal Power Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 11) and Light Waterjet Cleaning of Metals (SSPC-SP WJ-4/NACE WJ-4).

Abrasives must conform to SSPC-AB 1, AB 2 and AB 3 requirements.

The project includes a lump sum item for coating existing structural steel. The project also requires cleaning and coating 1,195 square feet of existing concrete surfaces and 200 linear feet of cathodic protection.

Removal and containment of lead-based materials is required, according to SSPC Guide 6. Certification for SSPC-QP 2 is also necessary.
