Bids In for AZ Multi-Tank Rehab Project

Three apparent bidders have been reported by the City of Flagstaff, Arizona, for a project that involves cleaning and recoating exterior surfaces of four existing steel water storage tanks. Bids were due May 10.

The tanks included in the contract are:

  • The 1-million-gallon welded steel Railroad Springs Tank;
  • The 170,000-gallon welded steel Kinlani Tank;
  • The 60,000-gallon welded steel Woody Mountain Booster Station Forebay Tank; and
  • The 2-million-gallon welded and domed steel Buffalo Park Tank.
City of Flagstaff

Three apparent bidders have been reported by the City of Flagstaff, Arizona, for a project that involves cleaning and recoating exterior surfaces of four existing steel water storage tanks.

According to the project documents, the work will include abrasive blast-cleaning the exterior surfaces of the Railroad Springs and Kinlani tanks to a Commercial finish (SSPC-SP 6/NACE No. 3) and recoating the tanks with an epoxy-urethane-fluoropolymer system.

The WMBS Forebay Tank and the Buffalo Park Tank will be waterjet cleaned to SSPC-WJ 4, Low Pressure Water Jetting; spot hand and power tool cleaned to SSPC-SP 2 and SP 3, respectively; and spot-coated with an epoxy-urethane-fluoropolymer system.

The coating brand specified is Tnemec.

The reported low bidders include:

  • Southwest Tank & Steel Fabricators, Inc. (Las Cruces, New Mexico) at $353,518;
  • Viking Industrial Painting (Omaha, Nebraska) at $424,300; and
  • Riley Industrial (Farmington, New Mexico) at $433,724.
