Contract Awarded for OK Bridge Painting

The Oklahoma State Department of Transportation has awarded a contract in the amount of $2,234,676.50 for painting two existing bridge structures carrying US-69 over the Verdigris River near Wagoner.

The contract was awarded to Elite Industrial Painting of Tarpon Springs, Florida.

Elite Industrial Painting was the lowest of two apparent bidders. Additional bids included North Star Painting Co., Inc. of Youngstown, Ohio, in the amount of $2,617,188; and Monoko, LLC of Tarpon Springs, Florida, in the amount of $2,671,819.

The Oklahoma State Department of Transportation has awarded a contract in the amount of $2,234,676.50 for painting two existing bridge structures carrying US-69 over the Verdigris River near Wagoner.

The project includes lump sum items for coating existing structural steel on both bridges.

Coating will involve the application of a three-coat, moisture-cured urethane system or a three-coat system of inorganic zinc primer, epoxy intermediate and urethane finish. ODOT systems are subject to change according to project requirements.

Surface preparation will involve cleaning in accordance with standards for Solvent Cleaning (SSPC-SP 1), Hand Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 2), Power Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 3), Near-White Metal Blast Cleaning (SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2) and Bare Metal Power Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 11).

The contract was awarded to Elite Industrial Painting of Tarpon Springs, Florida.

Abrasives used must meet requirements for SSPC-AB 1, AB 2 and AB 3.

The contractor will also oversee collection and handling of waste materials.

Owner-approved manufacturers include Carboline, ICI Devoe, International Paint, Sherwin-Williams, Wasser and Xymax.
