Contract Awarded for IA Bridge Rehabilitation

The Iowa Department of Transportation has awarded a contract in the amount of $6,486,816.53 for coating and rehabilitation to various existing bridge structures in Cerro Gordo, Dubuque, Hamilton, Monona, Montgomery, Wright, Ida, Keokuk, Linn and Plymouth counties.

The contract was awarded to Godbersen-Smith Construction Co., of Ida Grove, Iowa. Godbersen-Smith Construction was the lowest of five apparent bidders.

Additional bids included United Contractors Inc. (Johnston, Iowa) in the amount of $6,558,420.93; Hawkinson Construction Co. (Grand Rapids, Minnesota) in the amount of $6,813,881.65; A.M. Cohron and Son, Inc. (Atlantic, Iowa) in the amount of $7,253,100.08; and Cramer and Associates, Inc. (Des Moines, Iowa) in the amount of $8,354,343.97.

The Iowa Department of Transportation has awarded a contract in the amount of $6,486,816.53 for coating and rehabilitation to various existing bridge structures in Cerro Gordo, Dubuque, Hamilton, Monona, Montgomery, Wright, Ida, Keokuk, Linn, and Plymouth counties.

The project involves concrete sealing, replacement of structural concrete, paving and surfacing, rail and beam repairs, rehabilitation of structural steel, installation of culvert pipe and related site work.

The contractor will oversee 2,201.90 square yards of colored sealer coating and 2,085.60 square yards of bridge floor overlay with Portland cement concrete.

Surfaces may require preparation by scarification, hand tool cleaning and abrasive blast cleaning.

Owner-approved manufacturers for this project include Dayton Superior, Euclid, Olin Epoxy-Poly-Carb, Viking Paints, International Chem Crete, L&M Construction Chemicals, Dayton Superior, SRW Products, Sika Corporation, STAR Inc and TK Products.
