Bids Wanted for Peace Bridge Pier Recoating

Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority is seeking contractors to perform recoating piers on the Peace Bridge connecting Fort Erie, Ontario, and Buffalo, New York.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held June 2. Bids are due June 17.

Scope of Work

The project consists of design, construction and use of temporary access to the top surfaces and sides of piers on the Peace Bridge. Work will include cleaning of the exposed concrete surfaces of the piers, repair of concrete cracks by epoxy injection and sealing of concrete surfaces of Piers A, B, and 1 through 7.

Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority is seeking contractors to perform recoating piers on the Peace Bridge connecting Fort Erie, Ontario, and Buffalo, New York.

The project includes concrete cleaning, rust removal, and tinted penetrating sealant application of pier surfaces; 5,070 square feet to Pier B, 7,480 square feet to Pier A, 10,190 square feet to Pier 1, 9,520 square feet to Pier 2, 6,990 square feet to Pier 3, 6,390 square feet to Pier 4, 6,1110 square feet to Pier 5, 5,660 square feet to Pier 6, and 2,040 square feet to Pier 7. Prior to coating, concrete surfaces will be cleaned by mechanical means to Commercial standards (SSPC-SP 6). The tinted sealant color will be “Dover Sky” or an approved equivalent.

The contractor will be required to construct a mockup showing concrete repair and sealant application over new and existing concrete at Pier 2 for inspection and approval by the Authority. The mockup must be approved by the Engineer and the Authority before proceeding with sealant work.

For contractors attending from Canada, the mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on June 2, in Fort Erie, Ontario. For contractors attending in the United States, the meeting will be held on June 2, in Buffalo, New York.
