Bids Open for NY Bridge Coating Project

The New York State Department of Transportation is seeking contractors for coating of the Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge in Albany, New York.

The 1.5 mile-long structure connects New York with Canada for access to Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto.

Bids are due May 13.

Scope of Work

The New York State Department of transportation is seeking contractors to perform plate girder approach span painting and steel repairs to approach truss spans and floor beams on the Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge.

The New York State Department of Transportation is seeking contractors for coating of the Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge in Albany, New York.

The project involves rehabilitation of original steel floor beams where necessary and provide for blast cleaning and painting of all steel within Spans 1 to 8. Steel surfaces receiving a Class 1 full removal and over-coating will be abrasive blast-cleaned to Near White (SSPC-SP 10) and coated with a zinc-rich primer, an epoxy intermediate and a urethane finish. Approved manufacturers are Carboline, PPG, International Paint and Sherwin-Williams.

Areas receiving a Class 2 spot coating system will require The steel will be spot-power tool-cleaned, pressure-washed and overcoated with a three-coat moisture-cured urethane system. Approved manufacturers are Mercury, Wasser and Sherwin-Williams.

Certification to SSPC-QP 1, QP 2 and QP 3 are required.
