The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has awarded a contract in the amount of $201,144,071.74 for coating and repairs to the five bridge structures located along various routes in Glendale, Wisconsin.

The contract was awarded to Hoffman Construction Co. of Black River Falls, Wisconsin.
Hoffman Construction was the lowest of three apparent bidders. Additional bids included The Zignego Companies of Waukesha, Wisconsin, in the amount of $206,537,707.59; and Michels Road & Stone Inc. of Brownsville, Wisconsin, in the amount of $211,019,506.60.
Contract areas include Union Pacific Railroad over I-43; North Port Washington Road between Bender Road and Daphne Road; and I-43 between Bender Road and Brown Deer Road.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has awarded a contract in the amount of $201,144,071.74 for coating and repairs to the five bridge structures located along various routes in Glendale, Wisconsin.

The project involves cleaning, coating, deck replacement, steel repairs and concrete rehabilitation. The contract includes five lump sum items for painting existing structural steel. Steel surfaces will receive a coating system consisting of either an epoxy or zinc-rich primer, an epoxy intermediate and a polyurethane finish.
The contract also involves negative pressure containment and collection of waste materials, damp proofing and waterproofing 2,108 square yards of concrete surface, and 9282 square yards of protective concrete sealer.
Surfaces will require preparation in accordance with standards for Hand Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 2), Power Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 3) and Bare Metal Power Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 11).
