GA Bridge Painting Project Accepting Bids

Forsyth County is seeking contractors to perform structural steel coating repairs on two bridges in Cumming, Georgia.

Bids are due Aug. 11.

Scope of Work

Forsyth County, Georgia, is seeking contractors to oversee painting existing structural steel members on the Majors Road Bridge over Big Creek and the Burnt Bridge Road Bridge over Settingdown Creek. The Majors Road Bridge includes an estimated 5,400 square feet of coating application. The Burnt Bridge Road Bridge includes an estimated 4,200 square feet of coating application.

Forsyth County is seeking contractors to perform structural steel coating repairs on two bridges in Cumming, Georgia.

The structural steel will require cleaning and coating by the contractor in accordance with Georgia Department of Transportation Specification Section 535 - Painting Structures.

The steel will be abrasive blast-cleaned to SSPC-SP 6 (Commercial Standards) and recoated with Georgia Department of Transportation System VII, which includes a zinc-rich primer, a waterborne intermediate, and a waterborne finish.

The existing coatings contain lead; Class 3 containment according to SSPC-Guide 6 and hazardous waste disposal according to SSPC-Guide 7 is required.

Forsyth County, Georgia, is seeking contractors to oversee painting existing structural steel members on Majors Road Bridge over Big Creek and the Burnt Bridge Road Bridge over Settingdown Creek.

SSPC-QP 1 and QP 2 certifications are also required. Georgia Department of Transportation personnel will perform the coatings inspection services. Approved manufacturers are Carboline, Elite Coatings and Sherwin-Williams.
