Scope of Work
This project will involve rehabilitation of the Main Street Bridge spanning the Allegheny River in Salamanca, New York.
Work includes replacement of granite curbing, structural concrete deck slab repairs, bridge joint replacements, bridge expansion bearing replacement and coating application. The project is a locally administered federal aid project, and bidders must comply with all related requirements. The project is located on Seneca Nation Indians Territory.
The structure will require 1,250 square feet of field applied structural steel painting. The steel will be abrasive blast-cleaned to Near White (SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2) standards and coated with a zinc-rich primer, an epoxy intermediate and a urethane finish according to NYSDOT standards; this system is subject to change according to project requirements.

The owner-approved coating manufacturers are Carboline, PPG, International Paint and Sherwin-Williams. Work will include 500 pounds of disposal of non-hazardous paint removal waste. Class A containment for paint removal is required. Work will also include 12,900 square feet of protective sealing existing structural concrete and existing bridged deck surfaces.
Existing members of weatering steel will require abrasive blast-cleaning to Near White (SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2) standards in areas where severe pitting is present. Areas with severe corrosion and pitting will be coated with a two-coat primer. The project also includes maintenance cleaning and washing of bridge members including pressure washing (1,750-2,000 PSI) and high pressure washing (4,750-5,000 PSI).
