Bidding Opens for University Coating Upgrades

The University of Texas is soliciting requests for proposals for painting and the replacement of air handling units at Kinsolving Dormitory.

The submittal date for this project is Dec. 14.

Scope of Work

This project involves painting and replacement of five air handler units, along with associated work on ducts, piping, electrical and fire suppression systems at the University of Texas' Kinsolving Dormitory.

The University of Texas is soliciting requests for proposals for painting and the replacement of air handling units at Kinsolving Dormitory.

Interior painting is scheduled to involve a three-coat system consisting of latex on non-traffic concrete, masonry, dressed lumber, wood panel, gypsum board, plaster and canvas substrates. A two-coat system of floor sealer will be required for remaining concrete substrates. Steel surfaces at the elevator lobby and door frames will require three-coat systems of alkyd and latex. Remaining steel surfaces, galvanized metal and aluminum will require three-coat systems of metal primer and latex.

Surfaces are to be cleaned and prepared in accordance with standards for Solvent Cleaning (SSPC-SP 1), Hand Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 2), Power Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 3), Commercial Blast Cleaning (SSPC-SP 6/NACE No. 3) and Near-White Blast Cleaning (SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2).
