The project will also involve cleaning and painting existing structural steel bridge members including 100% of the girders, stringers, diaphragms, floor beams, upper and lower chord members, drains and bearing devices. The steel will require abrasive blast-cleaning to Near White (SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2) or to a Commercial finish (SSPC-SP 6/NACE No. 3), and coating with a three-coat organic zinc-rich system. The contractor will also see 72,534 square feet of concrete protective coating application.
