Bids Wanted for Chicago Rail Stations

The Chicago Transit Authority is accepting bids for the painting of 23 rail stations.

The submittal date for this project is Dec. 2.

Scope of Work

This project involves the painting renovation of 23 stations throughout the CTA’s rail system over the course of six months.

The Chicago Transit Authority is accepting bids for the painting of twenty-three rail stations.

Exterior painting on structural steel substrates is scheduled to include application of a two-coat system consisting of epoxy and urethane on galvanized metal.

Exterior painting on non-structural steel substrates involves application of a two-coat system of latex and alkyd on galvanized metal; a two-coat system of rust-proof primer and alkyd on ferrous metal; and a single-coat system of latex block filler on concrete masonry.

Surfaces are to be cleaned and prepared in accordance with standards for Solvent Cleaning (SSPC-SP 1), Hand Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 2), Power Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 3), White Metal Blast Cleaning (SSPC-SP 5/NACE No. 1), Commercial Blast Cleaning (SSPC-SP 6/NACE No. 3) and Ultra-High Pressure Water Jetting (SSPC-SP 12/NACE No. 5).

Manufacturers specified for this project are Sherwin-Williams, PPG, Carboline Company and International Paint/Devoe.
