Contractors Needed for Water Tank Repair

The City of Sycamore in Illinois is currently seeking contractors for the rehabilitation of a 750,000-gallon toroellipse elevated water storage tank.

Bids are due Nov. 2.

Scope of Work

This project involves exterior rehabilitation of a 750,000-gallon toroellipse by repainting and using containment. The project will also include wet interior repainting and repairs and the installation of a mechanical mixer.

The contract includes abrasive blast-cleaning of exterior surfaces to the standards associated with Commercial (SSPC-SP 6/NACE No. 3) and the application of a four-coat zinc-epoxy-urethane fluoropolymer system, followed by a two-tone topcoat. Containment is required.

The project also includes abrasive blast-cleaning of wet interior surfaces to the standards associated with Near-White Metal (SSPC-SP 10/ NACE No. 2), followed by the application of a three-coat zinc-epoxy system. Wet interior surfaces will receive an application of polyurethane caulk to the roof lap seams.

Finally, foundation surfaces shall be abrasive blast-cleaned and have an application of a two-coat epoxy system.
