Bids Sought for Las Vegas Retrofit

The Nevada Department of Transportation is seeking contractors to perform seismic retrofitting of an existing bridge and viaduct in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The contract is estimated to cost $41million

Bids are due Jan. 7, 2021.

Scope of Work

This upcoming construction project involves rehabilitation of two structures on I-515 at Eastern Ave, and Desert Inn Road from CL 69.00 to 74.00. The work will include bridge deck rehabilitation and seismic retrofitting of the I-515 bridge and rehabilitation of the I-515 auxiliary lane and viaduct located in downtown Las Vegas.

The Nevada Department of Transportation is seeking contractors to perform seismic retrofitting of an existing bridge and viaduct in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The chosen contractor will oversee 9,690 square yards of bridge painting application. The steel will be coated with either a high-performance zinc primer followed by a high solids corrosion resistant inorganic zinc intermediate and aliphatic acrylic polyurethane top coat system, an inorganic zinc-based primer with multi-purpose epoxy intermediate and aliphatic polyurethane top coating system, or a two-component zinc-rich shop-coating with field applied epoxy primer and urethane finish coating. The owner-approved manufacturers for bridge coating systems include Carboline, PPG, and Sherwin-Williams.

Work will include 907 square yards of aesthetic patterning. The project also includes 1,032 square yards of prime coat application.

The contract will require 122,011 square yards of bridge deck preparation and thin bonded multi-layer overlay application. The owner-approved manufacturers for multi-layer overlay adhesives include E-Bond Epoxies, E-Chem, Olin Poly-Carb, and Unitex Chemicals/Dayton Superior.
