PA Seeks Bids for Spillway Bridge Project

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking contractors to perform bridge removal and reconstruction at the Pymatuning State Park Spillway trail located in South Shenango Township, Pennsylvania.

Bids are due Oct. 22.

The project has an estimated cost of $1-2.5 million.

Scope of Work

The Pennsylvania Department of transportation is seeking contractors interested in performing overlay, drainage, and bridge removal and reconstruction for the Pymatuning State Park Spillway trail extension. The required completion date for this project is May 2, 2022.

Work will include application of 20 square yards of waterproofing membrane. The owner-approved coating manufacturers include Crafco, WR Meadows, Polyguard Products, Propex, Chase, Right Pointe, Soprema and TenCate Geosynthetics.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking contractors to perform bridge removal and reconstruction at the Pymatuning State Park Spillway trail located in South Shenango Township, Pennsylvania.

The project includes a lump sum item for painting existing structural steel using inorganic zinc coating system. Structural steel members will be coated with standard NEPCOAT B including a zinc-epoxy primer and urethane-aliphatic urethane topcoat. Containment according to SSPC-Guide 6 and waste disposal according to Guide 7 are required. The owner-approved coating manufacturers include Ameron, Carboline, Wasser, Sherwin-Williams and International Paint.

Contractors will also oversee cleaning and shop-painting of existing structural steel members to be retrofitted or to remain on the rehabilitated structure using a self-curing inorganic zinc-rich primer and application of an intermediate and finish coating. Treatment of pack rust areas and non-destructive testing will be requested as necessary.

The existing coatings are assumed to contain lead-based paint. Certification to SSPC-QP 1, SSPC-QP 2 and SSPC-QP 3 are required.
