King County has awarded a project in the amount of $603,000 to Mericka Group, LLC of Longview, Washington, for coating of the Flaming Geyser Bridge located in Auburn, Washington.
Mericka Group, LLC was the lowest of eight apparent bidders. Additional bidders included:

Purcell Painting & Coatings of Tukwila, Washington, in the amount of $605,000;

Long Painting Company of Vancouver, Washington, in the amount of $606,000;

Panther Industrial Painting, LLC, of Mishawaka, Indiana, in the amount of $633,000;

Champion Painting Specialty Services Corp. of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in the amount of $728,500;

Kodiak Industrial Solutions of Everett, Washington, in the amount of $805,949;

Liberty Maintenance, Inc. of Youngstown, Ohio, in the amount of $819,000; and
-
F.D. Thomas, Inc. of Sacramento, California, in the amount of $942,400.
The project bid May 21.
Scope of Work
King county has awarded a project including cleaning and painting of approximately 12,600 square feet of steel surfaces including steel box girders, floor beams, sidewalk supports and steel guards on the Flaming Geyser Bridge to Mericka Group, LLC. Work will include cleaning and re-greasing cable anchors within the steel box girders.

King County has awarded a project in the amount of $603,000 to Mericka Group, LLC of Longview, Washington, for coating of the Flaming Geyser Bridge located in Auburn, Washington.

Due to environmental challenges and the bridge’s proximity to the Green River, Mericka Group, LLC has selected a three-coat system including an inorganic zinc-rich primer with 82% zinc dust, a high-build two-part epoxy intermediate coating and a semi-gloss urethane finish. The contractor-chosen coatings manufacturer is AkzoNobel.
Mericka Group, LLC has been approved for SSCP-QP 1- and SSPC-QP 2-certified contracting. SSPC will be providing the final audit to approve Mericka Group, LLC for this project.
Jonathan Fitzherbert of Mericka Group, LLC, noted that: "Mericka Group is a newer company, however its management team has many years of experience in the multi-services industry. The majority of Mericka Group’s management team spent many years working for Safway Services (prior to the merge with Brand) and BrandSafway.
