3-Tank Coating Project in MD Out for Bid

St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission is currently seeking contractors to coat and maintain the Leonardtown Farm, Charlotte Hall and KcKay’s Plaza Water Storage Tanks in Leonardtown and Charlotte Hall, Maryland.

Bids are due Nov. 19.

Scope of Work

This project involves rehabilitating and recoating the interior and exterior surfaces of an 85,000-gallon elevated water storage tank, a 6,000-gallon hydropneumatic tank and a 7,000-gallon hydropneumatic tank.

Contractors will high-pressure water clean (5,000-10,000 psi) and spot power-tool clean the exterior surfaces of the elevated tank to Bare Metal Standards (SSPC-SP 11). The exterior surfaces will be overcoated with an epoxy-urethane system.

The elevated tank foundation will be pressure washed (4,000 psi) and coated with a two-coat epoxy system.

In addition, the exterior surfaces of the hydropneumatic tanks will be abrasive-blast cleaned to Commercial Standards (SSPC-SP 6/NACE No. 3) and recoated with a four-coat zinc-epoxy-urethane system.

The interior hydropneumatic surfaces will be abrasive blast cleaned to Near-White Standards (SSPC-SP 10) and coated with a three-coat zinc-epoxy system.

Hydropneumatic piping will be abrasive-blast cleaned to Commercial Standards (SSPC-SP 6/NACE No. 3) and coated with a zinc-epoxy system.

The owner-approved coating manufacturers include Tnemec and Inudron.

A containment system is required.
