PA Bridge Replacement Out for Bid

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking contractors to perform replacement of the West Hills Bridge in East Franklin Township, Pennsylvania.

The project is estimated to range between $1-2.5 million.

Bids are due Oct. 24.

Scope of Work

Contractors are being sought to perform replacement of the West Hills Bridge over Route 422 East and West in East Franklin Township.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking contractors to perform replacement of the West Hills Bridge in East Franklin Township, Pennsylvania.

The contractor will oversee the cleaning and recoating of new and existing structural steel. The steel will be abrasive blast-cleaned to Near White (SSPC-SP 10), tested for soluble salt as needed with chloride remediation and recoated with a three-coat zinc epoxy-urethane system selected from NEPCOAT List B. The owner-approved manufacturers on NEPCOAT List B include Ameron (PPG), Carboline, Wasser, Sherwin-Williams and International Paint.

The project will involve 158 square yards of silicone sealant protective coating application for joint expansions and parapet joints. Epoxy-penetrating sealant application is also required. Approved penetrating sealer manufacturers include Vexcon, BASF, Evonik, Advanced Chemical Technologies, Chemical Product Industries and TK Products.

The contractor will perform 960 square yards of epoxy-based surface treatment application on bridge deck structures. The owner-approved manufacturers include Cargill, Cornerstone Construction Material, E-Bond Epoxies, E-Chem, Euclid, Kwik Bond Epoxies, P3 Infrastructure, Sika Corporation, Transpo and Dayton Superior.

Containment according to SSPC Guide 6 and waste disposal according to Guide 7 is required.
