Contractors Needed for AZ Reservoir Recoating

The City of Avondale is currently seeking contractors to modify and recoat the Coldwater West Reservoir in Avondale, Arizona.

Bids are due Oct. 2.

Scope of Work

This project involves repairing and recoating the interior and exterior surfaces of an existing 2.5-million-gallon ground water storage tank.

The City of Avondale is currently seeking contractors to modify and recoat the Coldwater West Reservoir in Avondale, Arizona.

Contractors will abrasive blast-clean the interior tank surfaces to Near White Standards (SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2). The interior floor and shell surfaces below the high-water level will be coated with a 100% solids polyurethane system. The interior roof and column top plate surfaces will be coated with a two-coat epoxy system.

The exterior tank surfaces will be pressure-washed (3,500 psi) and cleaned to Power-Tool Standards (SSPC-SP 3). New exterior handrail surfaces will be abrasive blast-cleaned to Commercial Standards (SSPC-SP 6/NACE No. 3). Exterior reservoir surfaces will be coated with an epoxy-urethane system.

The work also includes coating exposed PVC and CPVC piping surfaces with an epoxy-polyurethane system.

The owner-approved coating manufacturers include: Tnemec, Sherwin-Williams, Carboline, International or an approved equal.
