Contractors Needed for OR Military Museum Remodel

The Oregon National Guard is seeking contractors to perform interior remodeling and finishing of the Archive Reading Room at the Oregon Military Museum in Clackamas, Oregon. Work is anticipated to include all electrical, plumbing, architectural wood work, interior coatings and repairs.

The Oregon Military Department established the museum in 1975 in order to create a repository for military weapons, documents and artifacts displaying the history of the citizens of Oregon. The museum has since relocated to the 32,000-square-foot Clackamas Armory located at Camp Withycombe. This project is part of an overall expansion of the current premises.

The cost is estimated between $120,000-$135,000.

Bids are due Sept.12.

Scope of Work 

This project is anticipated to include all electrical, plumbing, architectural wood work, interior coating and HVAC installation necessary for the interior remodeling of the Library/Archive Reading Room located at the Oregon Military Museum.

New and existing painted wood and trim surfaces will require an acrylic enamel primer and a two-coat acrylic semi-gloss top coat. Stained and sealed wood surfaces will require a toner stain to match existing water-based sealants and two coats of waterborne polyurethane top coats. For surfaces receiving a semi-transparent wood stain, a wiping and penetrating stain will be applied.

Ferrous and non-ferrous metal surfaces will require an acrimetal primer and two coats of a acrimetal semi-gloss top coat. Gypsum drywall surfaces will receive either a PVA primer or primer sealer followed by two coats of premium satin topcoat.

Existing coatings contain lead. For renovations, repairs and painting, the contractor is responsible for following all federal, state and local laws associated with lead-based paints for “Child-Occupied Facilities."

Approved manufacturers include: Benjamin Moore, Miller Paint, PPG, Rodda Paint Co., Rust-Oleum, Sherwin-Williams, Glidden, Kelly Moore or an approved equal.
