CA 3-Tank Coating Project Out for Bid

The County of Santa Clara is currently seeking contractors to improve water tanks at the Stevens Creek and Mount Madonna County parks in Watsonville and Cupertino, California.

Bids are due May 23. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held May 8.

The County of Santa Clara is currently seeking contractors to improve water tanks at the Stevens Creek and Mount Madonna County parks in Watsonville and Cupertino, California.

The engineer’s estimate is  $1,351,000.

Scope of Work

This project involves recoating and rehabilitating existing 100,000-gallon and 40,000-gallon water storage tanks, and constructing a new 100,000-gallon water storage tank.

Contractors will abrasive blast-clean the interior tank surfaces to Near White standards (SSPC-SP 10/NACE No.2). The interior surfaces will then be coated with a three-coat epoxy system.

The exterior surfaces will be abrasive blast-cleaned to Commercial standards (SSPC-SP 6/NACE No. 3) and coated with a zinc-rich urethane primer, epoxy intermediate and acrylic-polyurethane finish.

A containment system is required.

Contractors will also install internal cathodic protection systems in all three tanks.

Owner-approved coating manufacturers include: Tnemec, PPG, Devoe, Sherwin-Williams, Carboline or an approved equal.
