The City of Lafayette is seeking contractors to perform remodeling of the Bob L. Burger Recreation Center atrium located in Lafayette, Colorado.

Bids are due by May 3.

Scope of Work

The approved contractor will oversee rehabilitation of the fitness and weights area of the Bob L. Burger Recreation Center. The main purpose of this remodel is to provide ADA-compliant access and additional space for equipment by removing fixed planters and a non-compliant ramp. The existing stairs will also be brought up to code with the addition of handrails. The contractor will also oversee replacement of floor finishes.

All surfaces to be coated will be cleaned to correct defects prior to coating application. Ferrous metal surfaces will be Solvent Cleaned (SSPC-SP 1). For shop-primed surfaces, the contractor should sand and scrape surfaces to remove loose primer and rust before solvent cleaning. Surfaces will then receive two top coats over a shop primer, and two coats of an interior light industrial acrylic water based semi-gloss coating.

The contract includes rehabilitation of resilient flooring and floor base systems. Incompatible coatings will require removal using methods recommended by the manufacturer. The contractor will then oversee application of a waterproof adhesive prior to application of the resilient flooring strips. A transparent top coat over flooring will then be applied over flooring strips.

New steel pipe railing with horizontal pipe rails will be coated with an enamel finish coating. All exposed conduits will require concealment to the greatest extent possible. Conduits will require coating to match adjacent finishes.

The approved coating manufacturers include Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore & Co., Comex Group and PPG Paints.
