The Town of Marion, New York, is soliciting contractors for the restoration of five building facades after the Empire State Development Corporation gave the town a grant to restore the storefronts in 2016 in order to highlight the historical character of its business district.

Bids are due for this project by Jan. 11, 2019.

Scope of Work

The awarded contractor is responsible for the restoration of the facades of five adjacent mixed-use buildings. The project will cover 13,512 square feet of commercial space.

When preparing the facades for new coatings, the contractor is responsible for the removal of old coatings. To complete this work, the contractor is to remove the previous coatings by mechanically removing loose, chipping or peeling paint, and caulk accordingly.

Once removed and properly prepared, the contractor may then prime the exterior surfaces. Following this process, the contractor is to coat the specified facades with two coats of a premium exterior acrylic latex paint, with colors selected from the historical color palette. Each building must have a minimum of two different colors, including the body and contrasting trim color(s).

The contractor will also be responsible for the mechanical stripping, priming and coating of cast-iron details.
