The City of Suffolk, Virginia, is soliciting contractors for the repairs to the Cedar Hill Cemetery Mausoleum.

Bidders must be on the Virginia Deptartment of Historic Resources Trades Directory. There is a mandatory pre-bid meeting on Sept.12. Bids are due by Sept. 21.

Scope of Work

When repairing the mausoleum, the contractor is to saw-cut specified portions of the concrete wall, removing any loose or unsound concrete surfaces without disturbing or damaging existing surrounding concrete or other building materials. The contractor must then proceed with undercutting all exposed corroded reinforcing steel. Once all steel has been exposed, it is to be abrasive-blast cleaned to a bright metal finish. Following this procedure, the contractor is to then coat the steel with an anti-corrosive, protective bonding agent. When repairing the concrete, all areas must first be primed with a cementitious, non-sag repair mortar and bonding agent.

The contractor is also responsible for the repairs of any cracks on the mausoleum. These instances must be handled by completely sealing the surface of the crack and bottom of the mounted port with a high-modulus, high-strength, structural epoxy paste adhesive. Once cured, an epoxy resin may be injected.

When the various structural repairs have been made, the contractor is to pressure-wash surfaces scheduled to receive coating application. One of these surfaces is the concrete roof, which will be coated with a cold, liquid-applied resin with reinforcing fleece. The roof will then receive a top coat of a white- or gray-colored application. Existing concrete wall surfaces are also to be coated with one coat of an acrylic elastomeric primer and two coats of a white acrylic waterproofing application. Existing metal grilles are to be coated to match pre-existing.

Basis of design is Tremco.
