Job Purpose

Allow machining students to gain manufacturing experience while they are completing their final year of the machinist program, and also give Graco some machine unload and special project work support.

This position supports our Contractor Equipment Division (CED) in Rogers, MN. At CED, our product line meets the needs of painting, striping, texturing, protective coating, fire proofing, spray foam and general contractors and includes all types of airless sprayers, line stripers, pressure washers, spray foam rigs and other proportioning solutions. Please note that this position will be starting at our Minneapolis campus, however will be moving to a brand new facility in Dayton, MN.

Essential Duties
  • Run machines
  • Simple setups and troubleshooting (only if supervised by a full-time Graco machinist)
  • Checking parts with hard gauging and CMM
  • Perform periodic quality checks as described in operation layouts
  • Package, wash, and deburr as described in operation layouts or otherwise directed by full-time Graco machinist, engineer, or supervisor
  • Keep a clean and organized work area
  • The intern will be responsible for the quality of the parts that he or she produces and follow all necessary inspection requirements
  • Op Layouts (assist with the completion of op layouts)
  • Work as a team member to aid all shifts and support co-workers to operate to department expectations.
  • Focus on safety and follow all safety rules and requirements.
  • Other as needed.


Position Requirements
  • Students must be enrolled in the Machine Tool Technology program
  • Shift is flexible & can be changed to accommodate current courses/schedule.
  • Student must be in good standing with the school if enrolled and maintaining a C average or better.
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Comply with all safety rules and requirements


Physical Requirements
  • In terms of an 8-hour workday, "occasionally" means 1 to 33%, "frequently" means 34 to 66% or the time, and "continuous" means 67 to 100% of the time.
  • In an 8-hr workday, must be able to sit 1 hr, stand 3 hrs, and walk 4 hrs
  • Position requires frequent bending and stooping, occasional use of fixed or portable stairs, crouching and kneeling and reaching above the shoulder
  • Must occasionally lift and load up to 45 lbs or greater
  • Requires frequent repetitive elbow movements and simple grasping with both hands and occasional firm grasping and fine manipulation with both hands: (lIfting, dexterity, coordination, mobility, etc).
