Painter Improvers tasks include but are not limited to
Preparing surfaces by removing existing paint, rust, scale, and other contaminants by scraping, sanding, and/or needle gunning as required by specifications.
Participate in the painting procedure, applying coatings with brush and roller, or spray gun.
Perform housekeeping of the area and maintain lines and leads in a safe manner. Blasting or Painting equipment operation as required.
Keep necessary records needed to provide Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) as required by the work specifications or assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
Must be US Person (United States citizen or alien admitted for permanent residence in the United States)
Must have reliable method of transportation
Must be able to pass a Background Screening
Must be able to pass a Drug and Alcohol Screening
Must have or be eligible to obtain a DBID (Defense Biometric Identification) Badge
Must have OSHA 10-Hour Maritime Card (Class is provided by Venture Dynamics to qualifying candidates)
Have flexible Schedule to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift as needed.
Be able to work Overtime if required.
Physical & Medical Requirements:
Must be Physically and Medically qualified to wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job.
Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position
Must be able to work at heights, climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes (Up to 60ft in length)
Must be able to work in Enclosed and Confined spaces
Must be able to lift 50lbs on a frequent basis
Other Requirements:
Minimum of two (2) years of related experience, some of which must be in the maritime environment.
Communication is essential, must be able to read, write, and speak in English.
Basic understanding of ship terminology and chip compartment location nomenclature.
Must have experience using hand and power tools associated with the trade in a safe manner.
Must have good math skills and be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals using Metric and English Measurement Systems.
Accomplish work in accordance with SSPC standards and as required by NavSea Standard Item (009)
