Principal Responsibilities - Apply paint to surfaces including canvas, walls, floors, doors, and cabinets.
- Mix, match, and apply paint, varnish, shellac, enamel, and other finishes.
- Scrape, sandpaper, prime, or seal surfaces prior to painting.
- Clean walls to ensure proper adherence.
- Cover surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection.
- Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs.
- Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
- Erect scaffolding, movable and immovable staging and various rigging to gain access to difficult areas; moves furniture and equipment as necessary.
- Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting.
- Select and buy paint from vendors.
- Negotiate prices.
- Purchase quality brushes.
- Apply several coats according to paint directions.
- Tape off areas when needed.
- Apply touch-ups or second coats.
- Remove paint splatters when finished.
- Clean up all equipment, including brushes and spray guns.
- Utilize spray guns for large jobs.
- Work on ladders to reach high ceilings or walls.
Education/Training OSHA 10-Hour Maritime card required (Venture Dynamics will provide OSHA Training to qualifying candidates) Experience
- Minimum of Three (3) years of experience as a marine brush and roll painter applying poxy and non-epoxy coatings.
- SSPC C-12 Certified with a minimum of 2 years shipboard experience with various marine coatings, required to be at journeyman painter level of competence.
Knowledge - Must have thought working knowledge of marine coating application and surface preparation for various surfaces, types of spray painting machines, and equipment used in coating application.
Abilities - Ability to use hand and power tools associated with the craft.
Unique/Additional Requirements - Must be a US Person (United States Citizen or Alien Admitted for permanent residence in the United States).
- Must possess or be eligible to get a DBID (Defense Biometric Identification).
- Have flexible schedule, be able to work any shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) and do overtime if required.
- Candidate must have a reliable method of transportation to get to work on time.
Physical/Medical Requirements - Be able to successfully pass a Drug and Alcohol screening (Subjected to random Drug Screen Tests).
- Must be Physically and Medically qualified to wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job.
- Bust be able to lift 50+ pounds, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, work at elevated heights and small spaces.
