2nd Shift Supervisor Waukesha, WI
PAY: $55,000-$70,000/ year
Hours: 2:45 PM-11:45 PM plus
Position Summary:
The shift supervisor position is responsible for supervising shop employees in a manufacturing environment. This position plans and assigns work for timely completion and efficiency. The shift supervisor implements and follows all policies and procedures and recommends improvements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage the shop for production, quality and shipping and receiving.
- Establish and monitor overall shop performance for production and quality standards.
- Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
- Provides direction, development, and leadership to the production staff.
- Ensure effective employee relations in regard to coaching and development, track absenteeism rework, and/or safety.
- Responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees for the shop.
- Assist the Shipping and Receiving Department with proper paperwork procedures and coordination of transportation.
- Assist Safety Manager to ensure all employees are trained in Overhead Crane, Forklifts, and Spotter Trucks etc.
- Train Material Handlers how to assemble wood crates for projects (how to package material either in crates, on pallets or loaded onto trailers).
- Communicate in person and with notes regarding project questions, deadlines, problems, and/or safety issues. There may be times this happens outside normal working hours by phone, email or text.
- Report human relation issues (staff conduct, performance, absences, etc.) to Human Resources and/or to another shift supervisor.
- Perform quality control procedures to ensure all jobs are completed to specifications. This requires the supervisor to learn and understand the Quality Control position and job requirements.
- Attend production meetings with managers at 9 a.m. daily and 2:30 p.m. with 2nd Shift Supervisor to report needs of shift and assure quality standards are upheld.
- Check time cards for accuracy and record daily. Submit to Payroll Clerk for processing.
- Maintain the most up to date knowledge on procedures for shop-related accidents, alarms, electrical outages and weather-related emergencies.
- Maintain understanding of Profile Finishing Systems employee handbook and know general protocol for answering staff questions.
- Other duties as assigned.
