Thomas Industrial Coatings (TIC) is looking to fill the position of a Safety Director.  Reporting to the Company President, the Safety Director is responsible for overseeing the Safety Department to monitor and advise Operations/Management on compliance with the TIC Safety and Health Management System and State & Federal regulations.  The below tasks, responsibilities, skills, abilities, and certifications are not all encompassing as there are other duties assigned.

 

Tasks of the position include:

  • Leading the Safety Department including Safety Coordinators and Safety Administrator
  • Coordinating with the Workers Comp Broker on:

            Related insurance policies\

Risk management

Claims management issues

  • Conducting and/or supervising the safety orientation of supervisors and employees
  • Overseeing the drug and alcohol program in conjunction with human resources
  • Managing the blood lead program
  • Organizing and coordinating medical facilities and other emergency plans
  • Organizing and monitoring and safety meetings and conduct training programs to provide information regarding specific safety issues, include weekly Toolbox Talks
  • Inspecting work areas and operations to identify, and if necessary initiate actions to correct, unsafe work practices or unsafe conditions
  • Assisting in the procurement of necessary safety equipment and materials
  • Coordinating safety responsibilities with other project personnel
  • Communicating with customers, clients and authorities on safety related matters
  • Assisting supervisors in the investigation of accidents to determine cause and corrective measures
  • Assisting supervisors during regulatory agency inspections and investigations
  • Assisting in the investigation of violations of this accident prevention program
  • Preparing and maintaining safety records and reports
  • Assisting supervisors in the development or review of a job hazard analysis for each major phase of work and for types of operations that have not been analyzed
  • Planning and developing any additional jobsite accident prevention requirements recognized during construction
  • Coordinating and assisting the human resource department in working with the union and other agencies to acquire and maintain certifications for field personnel

           

Safety Responsibilities:

  • Ensure departmental staff follow proper safety protocol

  • Use safety equipment and devices provided or required
  • Work in a way that safeguards you and your fellow workers
  • Report any, and all injuries, per company policies
  • Arrive rested, alert, and aware of what is going on around you
  • Be aware of recognizable hazards
  • Know the correct, safe procedures for your job
  • Comply with company drug and alcohol policies
  • Hold and maintain a clean driving record

 

Experience, Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health Management or Safety Management or other related field
  • Certified Safety Professional, CSP, or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • OSHA Authorized 10/30 Instructor
  • 40- Hour EM385 Certification/ Content
  • SSPC C-3 Lead Supervisor
  • Safety Trained Supervisor
  • CPR and First Aid certification
