This entry level position will work under the supervision of a Senior Technician or Chemist. The Chemical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for performing the following functions with a high level of initiative and independence:
Routine testing of adhesives and coatings
Evaluate, collect and record data
Participates in organizing and performing experiments
Summarize and report results in a laboratory notebook
Record experimental data in computer system
Maintain data/information including charts and tables for communication of project results/details
Prepare experimental formulation of novel and commercial coating, adhesive and cleaning products
Tests performance characteristics of coated substrates using established procedures
Maintain and calibrate equipment as needed
Qualifications:
AS degree or some college level science/engineering courses (bachelors level candidates may be considered). The ideal candidate will possess 1 year of demonstrated laboratory experience and be computer proficient in MS office applications (word, excel and outlook). Additional requirements:
Ability to understand and follow experimental protocols for preservation of data
Comfortable and able to work safely in a laboratory environment, able to safely handle hazardous/toxic chemicals
Excellent attention to detail and ability to adhere to established safe laboratory practices/protocols
Ability to stand for extended periods while working in the laboratory
