Comment | More

The Department of Homeland Security is seeking contractors to perform dockside repairs to the CGC Douglas Munro, located in Kodiak, Alaska.

Bids are due Feb. 5.

Scope of Work

Contractors are being sought for cleaning, coating and full dockside repairs of the Coast Guard Cutter Douglas Munro.

The project will require power tool cleaning of some hull surfaces to Bare Metal (SSPC-SP 11) and abrasive blast-cleaning of other surfaces to Near White (SSPC-SP 10). The flight deck area, including deck tie-down fittings, will be ultra high pressure waterjet blasted to Near White per SSPC-SP WJ-2.

Hangar door trough gratings and channel covers will be abrasive blast-cleaned to Near White (SSPC-SP 10) and a dark gray two-coat epoxy system applied. The contractor will also renew interior deck coverings by applying a Type III, Class B epoxy resin-based cosmetic polymeric system.

If oil and grease are present, solvent cleaning (SSPC-SP 1) will also be required prior to other surface preparation.

The Department of Homeland Security is seeking contractors to perform dockside repairs to the CGC Douglas Munro located in Kodiak, Alaska.

The awarded contractor will oversee application of a primer, stripe coat and top coat using an inorganic zinc-rich system to hull surfaces. Underwater hull body surfaces will require treatment with immersion coatings.

Capstan foundations will require power tool-cleaning (SSPC-SP 3) and solvent wiping to remove remaining surface containments followed by application of a two-coat inorganic zinc-rich system. Grid honeycomb plating will require a corrosion-inhibitive compound treatment.

The project also includes touch-up preservation of all new and disturbed interior and exterior surfaces to match existing adjacent surfaces. Assessment of as-needed repair of tank coatings is also required.
