The City of Brea in California is currently seeking contractors for a project that involves the rehabilitation of the Valencia Reservoir, a 10-million-gallon steel ground water storage tank.
Bids are due Oct. 3; a non-mandatory pre-bid conference will be held at the project site on Thursday, Sept. 19. The total contract value is estimated at $1.9 million.
Scope of Work
The project specification calls for a full blast and recoat of the interior of the 40-foot-tall, 200-foot-diameter steel tank, as well as the spot cleaning and recoating of the exterior tank surfaces.
Interior surfaces will be abrasive blast-cleaned to a Near White Metal (SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2) finish and recoated with a zinc-epoxy coating system.

Exterior surfaces will be spot abrasive blast-cleaned to a Commercial (SSPC-SP 6/NACE No. 3) finish and spot coated with a zinc-epoxy-urethane system.
The owner specified coating manufacturer is Tnemec, or an approved equal.
