The Houtzdale Municipal Authority in Houtzdale, Pennsylvania, recently awarded a $408,810 contract to Worldwide Industries Corp. (Butler, Pennsylvania) for the exterior rehabilitation of two 800,000-gallon steel water storage tanks.

The contract includes cleaning and recoating the exterior surfaces of two existing 800,000-gallon welded steel standpipe water storage tanks. The tanks were both built in 1990 and are 78 feet tall and have a 48-foot diameter.
According to the project specifications, the exteriors of the tanks will be abrasive blast-cleaned to a Commercial finish (SSPC-SP 6/NACE No. 3) and recoated with a three-coat zinc-urethane system. The owner-approved coating manufacturers are Sherwin-Williams, Tnemec and Carboline, or an approved equal.
