Bidding Open for VA Commission Building Painting

The Fort Monroe Authority in Virginia is seeking bids to repair the exterior envelope at the Virginia Marine Resources Commission building located in Hampton, Virginia.

The submittal date for this project is May 28. A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at Fort Monroe Visitor and Education Center on April 25 at 10:30 a.m.

Scope of Work

This project includes work consisting of, but not limited to, replacing windows, removal of exterior screening system frames necessary for window replacement, removal and replacement of interior gypsum board and masonry repainting.

Interior and exterior work scheduled will involve a three-coat system of latex on gypsum board surfaces.

All work performed should meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the treatment of Historic Properties.

Exterior surfaces are required to be cleaned and prepared according to SSPC-SP 1 (Solvent Cleaning) and SSPC-SP 2 (Hand Tool Cleaning). Interior surface preparation is suggested to follow the chosen paint manufacturer’s recommendations.

Owner-specified paint includes Behr, PPG, Sherwin-Williams and approved equals.
