Contract Awarded for PA Bridge Concrete Coating

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has awarded a contract in the amount of $23,350,000 for concrete overlay and bridge preservation along I-99 in several municipalities in Blair County.

The contract was awarded to New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc. of New Enterprise, Pennsylvania.

New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. was the lowest of four apparent bidders. Additional bids included Swank Construction Co. (New Kensington, Pennsylvania) in the amount of $23,720,844.55; Cottle’s Asphalt Maintenance, Inc. (Everett, Pennsylvania) in the amount of $23,846,588.67; and Glenn O. Hawker (Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania) in the amount of $25,992,992.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has awarded a contract in the amount of $23,350,000 for concrete overlay and bridge preservation along I-99 in several municipalities in Blair County.

The project reportedly involves concrete coating and the rehabilitation of existing bridge structures, including 2,837 square yards of protective epoxy coating, 559 square yards of penetrating sealer and 16,889 square yards of latex-modified concrete overlay.

The contractor will also oversee 241 cubic feet of elastomeric concrete repair, as well as paving, partial bridge removal, joint cleaning and sealing, piping and drainage, lighting and underground cabling, slab stabilization and miscellaneous site work.

Surfaces will require cleaning and preparation by scarification and high-pressure water jetting.

The project reportedly involves concrete coating and the rehabilitation of existing bridge structures, including 2,837 square yards of protective epoxy coating, 559 square yards of penetrating sealer and 16,889 square yards of latex-modified concrete overlay.

The owner-approved manufacturers for this project include Chemmasters, Dayton Superior, Degen Oil & Chemical, WR Meadows, Pruett-Schaffer, Vexcon, Wicktek and EE Zimmerman.
