Scope of Work
This project involves construction and painting of a composite type three-million-gallon water elevated storage tank in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Areas of shop-applied pre-construction primer will require abrasive blast-cleaning to Near White (SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2) and application of a zinc-rich primer.
Tank interior wet areas require field application of coatings, will require abrasive blast-cleaning to Near White (SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2) and application of a zinc-rich aromatic urethane primer, polyamidoamine epoxy stripe, intermediate and finish coating. The owner-approved coating manufacturer is Tnemec.

Tank interior dry areas will require Near White Blast-Cleaning (SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2) or Brush Off Blast-Cleaning (SSPC-SP 7) and application of a zinc-rich aromatic urethane primer, polyamidoamine epoxy stripe, intermediate and finish coating. The owner-approved coating manufacturer is Tnemec.
Tank exterior surfaces will require Near White Blast-Cleaning (SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2), Commercial Blast-Cleaning (SSPC-SP 6/NACE NO. 3) or Brush Off Blast-Cleaning (SSPC-SP 7) and application of a zinc-rich aromatic urethane primer, high-solids low VOC pure polyamide epoxy stripe and intermediate coating, aliphatic acrylic polyurethane third coating and a finish coat of an advanced thermoset solution fluoropolymer. Logos will also be coated with an advanced thermoset solution fluoropolymer. The owner-approved coating manufacturer is Tnemec.
Exterior architectural surfaces will require coating with an alkyd urethane enamel or penetrating sealant system. Interior architectural surfaces will also require coating with either an alkyd urethane system, acrylic or latex system, or penetrating coating system. The owner-approved manufacturers for coating architectural surfaces are Glidden, ICI Devoe and Sherwin-Williams.
The project also includes application of high-performance coatings to piping and mechanical equipment. The approved systems include a high build epoxy system, aliphatic or aliphatic acrylic polyurethane system, epoxy or asphalt varnish systems. The owner-approved coating manufacturers are Tnemec and Sherwin-Williams.
Disinfection is required. Solvent vapor removal and dehumidification is also required. Full containment of the entire structure will be required during surface preparation and coating of exterior surfaces.
