Coating Contractors Wanted for W/WW Facility

The City of Austin is soliciting bids for painting and other work at the city’s water and wastewater facilities.

The submittal date for this project is Feb. 24.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held virtually at 10 a.m. CT on Jan. 26 using this link. Interested parties are advised to sign in 15 minutes prior to the start time.

Scope of Work

This project involves painting, utility services and other various repairs.

The City of Austin is soliciting bids for painting and other work at the city’s water and wastewater facilities.

Coating work includes a two-coat system of epoxy and polyurethane on above floor pump stations, valves and piping; a three-coat system of epoxy and polyurethane on below floor pump stations, valves and piping; a two-coat system of epoxy and polyurethane on factory-finished machinery and motors; a two-coat system of epoxy on concrete wet wells, concrete floors and basins; one- and two-coat systems of polyurethane on steel tanks; and a one-coat system of polyurethane on rotating equipment, submersible pumps, mixers and clarifier mechanisms, and augers.

Surfaces are to be cleaned and prepared according to standards for Solvent Cleaning (SSPC-SP 1), Hand Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 2), White Metal Blast Cleaning (SSPC-SP 5), Commercial Blast Cleaning (SSPC-SP 6/NACE No. 3), Pickling (SSPC-SP 8), Near-White Blast Cleaning (SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2), Bare Metal Power Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 11), Waterjetting (SSPC-SP 12/NACE No. 5) and Surface Preparation of Concrete (SSPC-SP 13/NACE No. 6).

Manufacturers specified for this project are Carboline and International Paint.
