Contractors Wanted for CA Reservoir Coatings Project

The Valley Center Municipal Water District in Valley Center, California, is currently seeking contractors to paint and recoat the Weaver Reservoir.

Bids are due Sept. 16.

Scope of Work

This project involves the painting and recoating of one five-million-gallon, above-ground welded steel potable water reservoir.

Valley Center Municipal Water District

The Valley Center Municipal Water District in Valley Center, California, is currently seeking contractors to paint and recoat the Weaver Reservoir.

Contractors will use White Metal Blast Cleaning (SSPC-SP 5/NACE No. 1) and Power-Tool Cleaning to Bare Metal (SSPC-SP 11) to clean damaged galvanized surfaces before coating. The coating system for this surface is a spray-zinc system.

Interior surfaces of the reservoir are to be abrasive blast-cleaned to standards associated with Near White (SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2) and coated with an interior epoxy coating system.

Exterior surfaces of the tank are to be cleaned to the standards associated with solvent cleaning (SSPC-SP 1) and followed by a cleaning of either Low Pressure Water Clean (SSPC-WJ 4/NACE-WJ 4) or Hand and Power Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 2, SP 3). After cleaning, exterior surfaces will receive a two-coat system of exterior epoxy.

Exterior coatings of this project require a 15-year paint manufacturers’ warranty.

Certification to SSPC-QP 1 is required for this project.

The owner-approved coating manufacturers and brands are Sherwin-Williams, Rust-Oleum, CRC and approved equals.
