Bids Wanted for Gym Alterations

Kern Union High School District is accepting bids for phase-two alterations at the Bakersfield High School gymnasium in Bakersfield, California.

The submittal date for this project is Sept. 22.

Scope of Work

This project involves painting and site improvements at the gymnasium, located at 1241 G Street in Bakersfield.

Kern Union High School District is accepting bids for phase-two alterations at the Bakersfield High School gymnasium in Bakersfield, California.

Exterior work includes applying three-coat systems on metal substrates and miscellaneous mechanical equipment, consisting of one coat of enamel and two coats of latex. Galvanized metal surfaces will require a four-coat system of one coat of cleaner, one coat of enamel and two coats of latex. Wood substrates will require a three-coat system consisting of one coat of hydrosealer and two coats of latex. Exterior cement surfaces will require a two-coat system consisting of one coat of hydrosealer and one coat of latex.

Interior work will involve a three-coat system of enamel on metal surfaces, pipe covering and duct work. Concrete and masonry substrates, walls and ceilings will require a three-coat system consisting of latex. Wood surfaces will require a three-coat system consisting of one coat of hydrosealer and two coats of latex. Plywood, casework and interior doors will require a three-coat system of one coat of wood stain and two coats of polyurethane.

Steel surfaces are to be cleaned and prepared in accordance with standards for Solvent Cleaning (SSPC-SP 1), Power-Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 3), and Commercial Blast Cleaning (SSPC-SP 6/NACE No. 3).

A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 7, 2021 at the job site.

Manufacturers specified for this project are Sherwin-Williams, PPG, Benjamin Moore and Dunn-Edwards, or approved equals.
