Contractors Sought for FL Bridge Painting

The Florida Department of Transportation is seeking contractors to paint structural steel on the Apalachicola River Bridge in Calhoun County, Florida.

The budget is estimated at $975,289.

Bids are due Aug. 18.

Scope of Work

Contractors are urged to bid on this project including abrasive blast-cleaning and painting steel bridge members spanning the Apalachicola River. The project also includes replacement of high-strength rivets and incidental construction. The bridge spans 1.038 miles. The contracted work will include an additional 2.074 miles of roadway rehabilitation. The project includes a total of 180 contract days for execution of this project.

The Florida Department of Transportation is seeking contractors to paint structural steel on the Apalachicola River Bridge in Calhoun County, Florida.

The work will consist of cleaning and painting superstructure steel members. The steel will be cleaned to a Bare Metal Power Tool Cleaning standard (SSPC-SP 11), Hand-Tool (SSPC-SP 2) and Power-Tool (SSPC-SP 3) cleaned to remove all existing coatings. The existing structural steel will be coated with an organic zinc rich system. This system is subject to change according to project requirements.

Certifications for SSPC-QP 1, QP 2 and QP 3 are required.
