CA Seeks Bids for Historic House Repairs

The California Department of Parks and Recreation in Sacramento, California, is seeking bids for the repair of the “First Brick House.” The building was erected in 1847 and was the first brick house in California.

The submittal date for this project is Feb. 24. The pre-bid meeting for this project is Feb. 1. Attendance is mandatory.

Scope of Work

In this project, all interior wall plaster shall be coated using a three-coat system that is made up of one coat of primer and two coats of latex.

Interior wood surfaces are to be coated using a three-coat system that will consist of one coat of primer followed by two coats of acrylic. All metal shall be coated using a three-coat system that is one coat of primer and two coats of acrylic.

All wood surfaces are to be cleaned, sanded and smoothed with scrapers, mineral spirits and sandpaper. All metal surfaces are to be cleaned using the standards associated with Power-Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 3). The existing structure may contain lead paint and other toxic materials.

Brands specified are Sherwin-Williams, Kelly-Moore, Dunn Edwards, Coronado Paint, PPG Paints and Benjamin Moore.
