The West Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking contractors to perform rehabilitation of the Bradshaw Creek Bridge in Summers County, West Virginia.
Bids will be received until 10 a.m. on Dec. 8.
Scope of Work
Contractors are urged to bid on a project including rehabilitation of the Bradshaw Creek Bridge carrying CR 33 over Bradshaw Creek near Indian Mills, West Virginia. The existing bridge structure is 200 feet long by 12 feet wide and is located .12 miles south of CR 21/2.

The West Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking contractors to perform rehabilitation of the Bradshaw Creek Bridge in Summers County, West Virginia.

The project includes cleaning and painting existing steel bridge members. All structural steel will require abrasive blast-cleaning to Near White (SSPC-SP 10) or to a Commercial finish (SSPC-SP 6) and coated with a three-coat organic zinc-rich system. This system is subject to change according to project requirements. The owner-approved manufacturers are Ameron (PPG), Carboline, International Paint, Sherwin-Williams and Wasser.
For structural steel receiving an epoxy coating, steel members will be coated with either a two-component modified epoxy coating for use as a spot primer, or a one coat system for use on poorly prepared surfaces. This coating may be used as a primer over steel that has been cleaned to a minimum of Hand Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 2). If used as a primer, it may then be coated with either a manufacturer recommended intermediate or a zinc-rich low-VOC top coat. This coating may also be used for surfaces with zinc-rich primers.
The project also includes 2,690 square feet of concrete protective coating application. All concrete surfaces to receive a protective coating will be prepared in accordance to Concrete Cleaning standards (SSPC-SP 13). The concrete coatings will be applied by spray, brush, or roller methods. Epoxy resin protective coating application is also required.
Work will require containment and disposal of spent material. Certifications for SSPC-QP 1 and QP 2 are required.
