NC Tank Rehab Out for Bid

Union County is currently seeking contractors to refurbish the Northwest Elevated Tank in Indian Trail, North Carolina.

Bids are due Nov. 12.

Scope of Work

This project involves coating the interior and exterior surfaces of an existing 1 million-gallon elevated water storage tank.

Union County is currently seeking contractors to refurbish the Northwest Elevated Tank in Indian Trail, North Carolina.

Contractors will abrasive blast clean the interior wet surfaces to Near White Metal standards (SSPC-SP10/NACE 2). The interior surfaces will be coated with a zinc-rich primer and two-coat epoxy system. Interior dry concrete floor surfaces will be coated with a two-coat epoxy system.

The exterior of the tank will be low-pressure water cleaned (SSPC-SP WJ-4/NACE WJ-4) (3,500-5,000 PSI) and Hand- or Power-Tool Cleaned (SSPC-SP 2/SSPC-SP 3). The exterior surfaces will be coated with an acrylic-polyurethane-fluoropolymer system.

The concrete tank foundation will be cleaned and coated with a two-coat epoxy system.

The tank underbelly, gallery piping and fill/draw waterline surfaces will be Brush-off Blast Cleaned (SSPC-SP 7/NACE 4) and power tool cleaned to Bare Metal Standards (SSPC-SP 11). The surfaces will be coated with an epoxy-polyurethane system.

The work also includes painting a logo on the tank with a two-coat fluoropolymer system.

The owner-approved coating manufacturer is Tnemec.
