TX Tank Rehab Out for Bid

The San Antonio Water System is currently seeking contractors to rehabilitate the Naco Ground Storage Tank in San Antonio, Texas.

Bids are due Oct.14.

The cost estimate is $1.52 million

Scope of Work

This project involves coating the interior and exterior surfaces of an existing 7.5 million-gallon ground water storage tank.

The San Antonio Water System is currently seeking contractors to rehabilitate the Naco Ground Storage Tank in San Antonio, Texas.

Contractors will abrasive blast clean the interior surfaces to Near White Metal standards (SSPC-SP10). The interior surfaces will be coated with a zinc-rich primer and two-coat epoxy system.

The exterior of the tank will be abrasive blast cleaned to Commercial standards (SSPC-SP6) and coated with an epoxy-siloxane system.

The exterior valve and piping surfaces will be abrasive blast cleaned to Commercial standards (SSPC-SP6) and coated with an epoxy-polyurethane system. Buried steel piping will be abrasive blast cleaned to Commercial standards (SSPC-SP6) and coated with a coal-tar epoxy.

Contractors will also coat the exterior concrete vault and tank foundation surfaces with an epoxy system.

The owner-approved coating manufacturers include Tnemec, Carboline, PPG and Sherwin-Williams.
