TX University Boiler Project Seeks Bids

The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, is seeking bids for the installation of a new tray type pressurized deaerator, boiler feed water pumps and associated piping at the West Plant.

The submittal date for this project is June 29.

Scope of Work

This project involves the installation of a new tray type pressurized deaerator, boiler feed water pumps and associated piping at the West Plant of the University of Texas Medical Branch located in Galveston, Texas.

In this project, all exterior concrete surfaces will be coated using a two-coat system consisting of two coats of flat acrylic emulsion. Any ferrous exterior meta surface shall be coated using a two-coat system that is made up of two coats of waterborne acrylic enamel.

Exterior galvanized metal surfaces will be coated using a two-coat system comprised of two coats of semigloss acrylic enamel. Aluminum surfaces in this project will be coated using a two-coat system comprised of two coats of semigloss acrylic enamel. Plaster surfaces shall be coated using a two-coat system made up of two coats of acrylic emulsion over primer. Finally, wood surfaces shall be coated using a two-coat system made up of two coats of acrylic emulsion over primer.

Interior concrete surfaces will be coated using a two-coat system comprised of two coats of over block-filler. Gypsum on the interior will be coated using a two-coat system made up of two coats of interior latex primer. Ferrous metal, galvanized metal and aluminum surfaces on the interior will be coated using a two-coat system that consists of two coats of semi-gloss acrylic latex enamel over primer. Last, wood on the interior shall be coated using a two-coat system that consists of two coats of primer.

Surface preparation for this project is as followed. Steel surfaces are to be cleaned using the standards associated with Commercial Blast Cleaning (SSPC-SP 6), Hand-Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 2), and Power-Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 3).

The brands specified for this project are Benjamin Moore, PPG, Tnemec, Carboline, DuPont and Sherwin-Williams.
