Contractors Needed for PA Government Building

Friday, September 6, 2019

The County of Northampton is seeking contractors to complete various repairs on its government center, located in Easton, Pennsylvania.

The County of Northampton was established more than 250 years ago and, according to the 2018 census, the center serves a population of more than 300,000 people.

Bids are due Sept. 26.

Scope of Work

This project involves various exterior repairs at the Criminal Administration Building. These repairs include demolishing and replacing an existing concrete ramp, walls and a concrete slab. This project also includes the replacement of various handrails, the application of cement stucco on new retaining walls and the coating of various exterior galvanized surfaces.

Exterior surfaces of the building are to be coated with a light industrial, water-based coating. The surfaces include galvanized steel. All galvanized surfaces will require surface preparation to Solvent Cleaning (SSPC-SP 1) standards and any rusted surfaces should be prepared according to Hand-Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 2) standards. These surfaces should also be primed with a rust-inhibitive water-based primer along with all exterior surfaces.

This project also includes exterior plaster work. This work is on concrete masonry, and upon completion an acrylic finish will be applied. This should follow the "Standard Specification for Application of Portland Cement-Based Plaster" (ASTM C926).

The owner-approved manufacturers are: Benjamin Moore, PPG Paints, Sherwin-Williams or an approved equal.
