VA Tank Coating Project Out for Bid

The Western Virginia Water Authority is currently seeking contractors to coat the Goat Rock Water Tank in Roanoke, Virginia.

Bids are due Sept.10. A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held Aug. 27.

Scope of Work

This project involves cleaning and recoating the interior and exterior surfaces of an existing 500,000-gallon steel ground water storage tank.

Western Virginia Water Authority

The Western Virginia Water Authority is currently seeking contractors to coat the Goat Rock Water Tank in Roanoke, Virginia.

Contractors will abrasive blast clean the interior surfaces to Near White standards (SSPC-SP 10). The interior surfaces will then be coated with a zinc-rich primer and epoxy system.

The exterior surfaces will be high pressure water cleaned in accordance with (SSPC-WJ4) and spot-cleaned to Power-Tool standards (SSPC-SP 3).

The exterior surfaces will be coated with an epoxy primer and acrylic system.

Containment of abrasive blast debris is required.

The owner-approved coating manufacturers include: Tnemec, Sherwin-Williams or an approved equal.
