The City of Brookfield, Wisconsin, has awarded a project for coating the Sunnyslope Water Tower to V&T Painting LLC, of Farmington Hills, Michigan.
The project bid April 4.
V&T Painting LLC was the lowest of six bidders with an awarded bid amount of $477,960. Additional bids included George Kountoupes Painting Co., in the amount of $529,500; Seven Brothers Painting Inc., in the amount of $560,400; L.C. United Painting Co., in the amount of $582,000; Utility Service Co., in the amount of $634,200; and Classic Protective Coatings in the amount of $785,400.
Scope of Work
The awarded contractor will oversee the coating rehabilitation of the Sunnyslope Water Tower in Brookfield, Wisconsin. The interior and exterior surfaces of the 1 million-gallon standpipe will be cleaned and coated.

The project includes cleaning the exterior tank surfaces to a Commercial Finish (SSPC-SP 6). The exterior surfaces will then be coated with a four-coat zinc-epoxy-urethane system.
The contractor will also clean wet interior surfaces to a Near White Finish (SSPC-SP 10). The interior wet surfaces will then be coated with a three-coat zinc-epoxy system. The roof lap seams are to be caulked as well.
The contractor will also clean the dry interior surfaces to a Commercial Finish (SSPC-SP 6) and coat with a two-coat epoxy system.
The work also includes cleaning pit piping to a Commercial Finish (SSPC-SP 6) and coating the surfaces with a two-coat epoxy system.
The tank foundation will be cleaned and coated with a two-coat epoxy system.
Containment and waste disposal are required for this project.
Owner-approved coating manufacturers include: Tnemec, Induron, PPG and Sherwin-Williams.
