The City of Rochester is seeking contractors to design, bid and perform construction administration services for the Genesee Valley Park pool and ice rink located in Rochester, New York.

The ice rink enclosure was built in the early 1980s and is split into two sections; a gable roof and ancillary space flat roof. The rink roof is original to the enclosure and approximately 39,400 square feet in size. The structure is actively leaking. The new roof covering will require a 20-30 year warranty. The metal roofing may be coated with a polymer paint-on barrier to the entire roof structure to prevent further leaking. A polymer paint-on barrier of approximately 37,000 square feet of roof is anticipated to cost $296,000. Additional options include metal roof retrofitting or sealing and caulking.

The Olympic-sized pool was constructed in 1987 and sustained repairs to the bulkhead structure in 2014. The deck is currently cracked throughout. The deck surfaces will require application of a non-slip finish with proper expansion joints an control joints as needed. Deck graphics will also require application. The contractor will also oversee inspection and repair of the plaster pool coating.

The entry plaza will require repair and drainage improvements. The building’s exterior work will entail painting of pine fascia and soffits. Exterior doors will also require coating application. Construction on the building masonry will involve general maintenance and penetrating sealant application. The entire building will require evaluation for resealing and waterproofing.
