PA Standpipe Coating Work Out for Bid

The Beaver Falls Municipal Authority is currently seeking contractors to rehabilitate the West Mayfield 37th Street Tank in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.

Bids are due April 23. The cost estimate for this project is $750,000.

Scope of Work

This project involves coating and repairing an existing 1.25-million-gallon steel standpipe water storage tank.

Contractors will abrasive blast-clean the interior tank surfaces to Near White standards (SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2). The interior surfaces will then be coated with a zinc-rich primer and 100 percent solid epoxy finish.

The exterior tank surfaces will be abrasive blast-cleaned to Commercial standards (SSPC-SP 6/NACE No. 3) and coated with a zinc-rich primer, epoxy intermediate and polyurethane finish.

The work also includes caulking the concrete foundation surfaces.

The owner-approved coating manufacturers include Tnemec, Sherwin-Williams, Induron, Sika or an approved equal. 

Containment and proper collection and disposal of blast materials are required.

Spray application is prohibited. Coatings should be applied by a brush and/or roller.
